Guiding hikers through a wildly varied swamp, the trail shows off an impressive amount of features in a relatively short distance. And while the Boardwalk Trail can be enjoyed as is, an interactive guide marking twenty different features adds a great deal of character to the hike. Those features are listed below with the trail description.

Boardwalk Trail Description

The Boardwalk Trail begins immediately behind the Harry Hampton Visitor Center, making a negligible amount of elevation change over the course of its entirety. Intersecting with multiple other trails in the vicinity, the trail can also provide access to longer hikes found within the park.

The trail itself travels through varying components of the surrounding swamp, showing off unique aspects and features found within Congaree National Park. An associated interpretive guide corresponds with numbers marked along the trail, pointing out 20 different unique points of interest. Be sure to pick one up at the Visitor Center to get the full experience of the Boardwalk Trail.
