Escalante Petrified Forest State Park

Escalante Petrified Forest State Park has a fantastic hiking trail that shows off some of the region’s best petrified wood in a treasure chest of a hiking trail. The trail climbs up a mesa where petrified wood is literally scattered all over the ground in both pebble-sized rocks and boulders a few feet large. The park makes for an excellent stop to get away from the crowds seeking out grander adventures.
