Tram to Gondola via North Ridge Trail Description

From the top of the tram, looking for the North Ridge Trailhead between the tram station and the Skywalk. The trail will begin descending just west of the tram. You’re immediately treated to panoramic views of Granite Canyon, the Grand Teton, and the valley of Jackson Hole. The steep descent through alpine tundra eventually drops down into a scattered evergreen grove as jaw-dropping views morph all around you. Granite Canyon, just over the boundary of Grand Teton National Park nearby, provides exceptionally mesmerizing vistas.

As the terrain gets rockier, you’ll begin to make your way down a few steep switchbacks. Along this route, the views of the Granite Canyon disappear behind the ridgeline. Your last view of the canyon is along a narrow, rocky divide. Continuing down the switchbacks, you’ll wander through a large and inviting alpine meadow ripe with wildflowers. Through here, you’ll easily scramble down a large ridge of boulders before winding through the remainder of the alpine meadow.

As you snake through the subsequent forest grove, you’ll quickly connect with the Cirque Trail just ahead. To continue down to the Bridger Gondola, head left.

The Cirque Trail will begin heading down a wide trail, narrowing as you approach a large rocky line of cliffs. Winding along this trail, you’ll snake along the exposed trail below the imposing cliffs, all the while being treated to exceptional views of the lower elevations. The cliffs soon give way to more talus and loose rocks for a brief moment as you make a quick ascent toward a small forest.

On the other end of the small grove, you’ll see the top of the Bridger Gondola and its adjoining restaurant. Across a few wide switchbacks, you’ll continue the easy descent down to the building, passing the junction to the Casper Ridge Loop along the way.
